Hiranmayi Shankavaram

Hiranmayi Shankavaram is an architecture graduate from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore (2012). She also holds a Master’s degree in Urban Management and Development from the Institute of Housing and Urban Studies (IHS), Rotterdam (2015-16). She worked as an architect at a private architectural firm in Bangalore between 2012 and 2015. During her stint as an assistant professor (2017-2019) at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education (KAHE), Coimbatore, she has been part of a research programme called Building Inclusive Urban Communities (BInUCom) concentrating on the nuances of urban informality. Since 2019, she has been working as an Assistant Professor at R V College of Architecture (RVCA), Bengaluru. As a researcher, she identifies the endless gamut of urban issues, the panacea for which requires efficient, effective, and people-centric initiatives to create conducive environments. She is actively involved as an editor for RVCA’s research based annual magazine Kalpa. She is also a co-founder to the in-house guidance cell for higher education called GlobEd that hosts national and international universities and provides a platform for exchange of information on the Global Prospects for Higher Education in Architecture and its allied disciplines. She also holds the international portfolio bringing in academic collaborations with national and international institutions and think tanks.
