Prof Seema Maiya U is an architect, urban designer and academician based in Bengaluru India. She has an undergraduate degree in Architecture from Bangalore University and Master (Urban Design) from the Glasgow School of Art, UK. She has worked on a diverse range of architecture and urban projects in India and abroad including Greig and Stephenson in London, United Kingdom.

She is currently part of the faculty team at the Urban Design Department at RV College of Architecture. She teaches Design and Thesis (Dissertation) Studios and curates Outreach Programmes (urban walks, talks and exhibitions) through the Research and Consultancy Cell of the Department. She has also given guest lectures and been part of invited Jury Panels in India.

Her research interests are in the areas of architectural history- theory, design thinking and historic urban precinct regeneration. She co-creates Urban Design Studios which uses the transforming ‘urban villages’ in Bengaluru as an active testing ground to examine themes like heritage, legacy, collective memory and identity and build ‘design’ narratives that reimagine urban practices that shape the public realm in Indian cities.
