B. Arch. Admission Procedures

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The eligibility for admission to 1st year of 5-year B.Arch. Degree programme for the academic session 2024- 2025 shall be as per CoA (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 2020. The eligibility in terms of Regulations, 2020 is as under:

  1. “No candidate shall be admitted to architecture course unless she /he has passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with either Chemistry or Biology or technical vocational subjects or Computer Science or Information Technology or Informatics Practices or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies with 45% marks in aggregate or passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 45% marks in aggregate.” Relaxation in percentage and qualifying marks shall be in accordance with the government's relaxation policy.
  2. Additionally, the candidates must qualify for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) or JEE paper II.
ADMISSION CRITERIA/HOW TO APPLY
  1. NATA 2024/ JEE paper II is the qualifier aptitude test for admission to B.Arch. programme offered by Universities/ Institutions in the country, subject to the fulfilment of eligibility criteria as prescribed by the Council of Architecture.
  2. Qualifying in NATA/ JEE paper II does not constitute a right/ guarantee in favour of the candidate for admission to any architecture course unless the candidate has fulfilled all the prescribed requirements as specified by respective competent authorities in compliance with the eligibility criteria laid down by the Council of Architecture.

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply for admission through the following modes:

  1. Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for the government quota seats earmarked for Karnataka domicile candidates.
  2. COMED-K counselling for all India merit seats. (For details please visit:  https://www.comedk.org/)
  3. Management quota
KCET (KARNATAKA DOMICILE)

KEA Admissions: (KEA College Code E-244): The Karnataka Administrative Authority conducts the admission process through counselling as per the schedule it has notified. Only domicile candidates of Karnataka are eligible for counselling.

In addition to this, the candidate should must have to comply with the following : 

  • Architecture Aptitude – NATA/JEE paper II
  • Qualifying Examination: Minimum 45% (in aggregate) in conformity with the eligibility criteria laid down by the Council of Architecture.
  • A resident of Karnataka state (Domicile)

COMED-K
  • This is an All-India merit-based counselling process conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges in Karnataka(COMED-K)
  • Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by the Council of Architecture are eligible to participate in the counselling process.

The candidates seeking admission under this quota need to compulsorily register online on the Comed-K website (https://www.comedk.org/) and once registered, should regularly check the announcements published on it.

MANAGEMENT QUOTA

Eligibility: The Candidates should satisfy the requirements given hereunder before sending the application:

  • Min.70% in 10th Std in Science & Mathematics.
  • Min.65% in Maths & Physics separately in Class 11.
  • If class 12 results are already announced – Min 60% in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics separately.
  • Qualifying in NATA or JEE–II and fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by the Council of Architecture.
  • Students who have passed/appearing for 10+2 other than CBSE/ICSE/ State Boards are required to obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

Parents/ Students seeking admission to B.Arch. First year at RVCA may apply by sending an email to "The Hon. Secretary, RSST" at rv@rvei.edu.in along with scanned copies of score cards/marks lists of 10th, 11th, 12th standard and NATA/ JEE paper II score card,  along with their contact details.

We do not entertain any Consultants / Brokers. All admissions are only done directly.

M. Arch. Admission Procedures

Eligibility and Admissions Criteria for the M.Arch. Course

The eligibility for admission to the 1st year of the 2-year M.Arch. degree programme for the academic session 2023–2024 shall be as per CoA. The eligibility is as follows:

  • "No candidate shall be admitted to Post Graduate Full-Time Degree or Certificate Programme unless the candidate has passed an examination in B.Arch. Degree or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPI."
  • The candidate needs to qualify for an entrance test for the post-graduate programme in architecture conducted by KEA, complying with the CoA admission norms/valid GATE score.
  • Reservation of seats and relaxation in the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination for admission shall be as per the reservation policy of the Central Government or the respective State Governments.

ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA

Admission can be obtained in two categories:

  • The candidate must appear in the PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) conducted by the KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority).
  • Candidates with valid GATE scores can also apply directly for admission.
  • Foreign nationals must obtain the equivalence of their qualifying degree from the Association of Indian Universities and also qualify in PGCET.
  • International candidates must obtain the equivalence of their qualifying degree from the Association of Indian Universities and also qualify in PGCET.
ADMISSION CRITERIA/HOW TO APPLY
  • Those interested in pursuing a postgraduate degree at RVCA must write to the PG Coordinator (Architecture) at prasannarao.rvca@rvei.edu.in well in advance with their testimonials and portfolio approval.
  • Candidates are required to obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities. Candidates must apply directly to the PGCET cell (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test cell) of KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority) and write a test conducted by KEA usually in June/July.
  • At the time of admission by RV College of Architecture, Bengaluru, a portfolio review (maximum of 10 pages) and interview will be conducted.
GATE Admission Quota

The candidates should be GATE (Architecture) qualified or should have appeared for the Entrance Examination conducted by an authority by the Government of Karnataka/VTU/any other university on approval by the Government of Karnataka.

Management Quota
  • The candidates should be GATE(Architecture) qualified or should have appeared for the Entrance Examination conducted by an authority by the Government of Karnataka/VTU/any other university on approval by the Government of Karnataka.
  • There shall be an Admissions Committee for the M.Arch. programme in each college consisting of the Principal of the College as the Chairman, the Head of the concerned Department, one senior faculty of the concerned Department, or a Subject Expert as a member.
  • The admissions committee conducts the interview and selects the candidates for admission.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria laid down by the University/CoA for admission to first Year M. Arch. for Academic year 20024.25 is as follows. 

  1. The candidate should have passed B.Arch. course or equivalent examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA. 
  2. The candidate must qualify Post Graduate Entrance Test in Architecture (PGETA) conducted by the Council of Architecture / GATE.

Candidates with qualification from foreign universities must obtain the equivalence certificate from Association of Indian Universities apart from qualifying the PGETA/GATE.  

Reservation of seats and relaxation in the admission criteria shall be subject to reservation policy of the State Government.

Modes of Admission

Candidate can apply for admission to M. Arch. (Urban Design) through flowing modes: 

  1. KEA Counselling; The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) shall conduct the merit-based admission process for the seats assigned to it under the government quota. Ph.D. Admission Procedures

Eligibility & Admissions Criteria to Ph.D.
  • Candidate with PG Degree: The candidate shall possess a Master’s Degree in Architecture or Allied Specialisation or equivalent recognised by the University, with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 out of 10 or 60% aggregate marks at either the Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in the respective discipline.
  • Candidate with UG Degree: The candidate possessing a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent recognised by the university with 10 years of experience in teaching, research, or professional practice in Architecture shall also be eligible for admission, subject to approval by the Admissions Committee.
  • The candidates pursuing an M.Arch. Degree at the University who have completed the prescribed coursework in the first three semesters of study with outstanding merit, having either a Minimum CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 or 70% aggregate marks and demonstrated good research aptitude, shall be eligible for up-gradation to the Ph.D. Integrated Degree programme, subject to approval by the Admission Committee.
  • The candidate needs to qualify for an entrance test for the Ph.D. programme (VTU-ETR Test) in architecture conducted by VTU.
  • Admission is based on qualifying examination marks, a written entrance test, and an interview, subject to vacancies notified and the availability of an eligible and suitable Research Supervisor at the Research centre.

Eligibility & Admissions Criteria to Ph.D.
