Dr. Mahalakshmi Karnad is a dedicated academician with over two decades of experience in Architectural Education, specialising in Design pedagogy and Applied research. She believes that Novelty and Innovation are vital for the profession and is committed to developing new approaches to space-making within the studio framework. Additionally, she emphasises the integration of ecology and environmental issues in design during the teaching-learning process. Some of the recent thematic studios that she has been an integral part of include Re-Thinking Public Interface: Biophilic Design for Workspace Environments, Architecture for the Senses: Designing for Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sustainable Campus Design & Collaborative Habitat: Exploring Generative Design Process in Group housing. Dr. Karnad has delivered insightful lectures on topics of Urban Landscape Planning, the Ecological Impact of Building Materials, and Biocentric Approaches in Architecture on various national platforms. She also plays a vital role in administration, serving as the Chairperson of the Internal Compliance Committee, Chairperson of the Board of Examination, and a Member of the Board of Studies at both Institutional and University levels.
