Ujjayant is an Architect and academic. His interests lie in form study and settlement ecologies. Ujjayant graduated from Piloo Mody College of Architecture, Cuttack(IN) where his thesis on multifaith cemeteries won several awards. He later completed his post-graduate studies at the Chandigarh College of Architecture(IN) where he worked on several Government consultancy projects in Chandigarh and his thesis on Idolmakers of Kumartuli was awarded the best in the university and has been exhibited widely. An alumnus of the International Habitat Design Studio under the guidance of Ar. B.V. Doshi, and the Architecture Y Paisaje programme by RCR Arquitectes, Barcelona, Ujjayant has led the Foundation Studio & the Architecture and City studio at AVANI Institute of Design under the mentorship of Prof. Neelkanth Chhaya and Prof. Roger Connah and currently is a part of the Housing Studio at RVCA, Bengaluru. Ujjayant is the co-founder of a multi-award-winning collaborative practice, STHAAN, which has won the Best Young Practice Award from the Indian Institute of Architects (YAF) in 2022, The World Architecture Award 2019 and several others. STHAAN’s work has also been selected recently to be exhibited at the India Art Architecture and Design Biennale by the Ministry of Culture (GoI) and the DesignXDesign 20 under 35 Exhibition at Alliance Francaise Delhi. STHAAN is also published as one of the best Unbuilt works in the country in Unbuilt Vol.2.
