Dr. Om Prakash Bawane earned his Bachelor and Masters’ degrees in Architecture from Maulana Azad College of Technology (now MANIT) Bhopal in 1981 and University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) in 1984 respectively. Dr. Bawane continued with his pursuit for improving his academic credentials and went ahead acquiring Master of Science degree in sustainable Development form Sikkim Manipal University and subsequently Ph.D. from Vinayaka Missions University. He has served as a lecturer in institutions such as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur (now VNIT) (1984) and Manipal Institute of Technology (1985). He served as the Head of The School of Architecture at PDA College of Engineering at Gulbarga (1987) for nearly a decade. Since 1996, Dr. Bawane is associated with the prestigious RV School of Architecture, Bangalore. In the capacity of a Senior Professor and Dean, Dr. Bawane worked relentlessly along with Dr. K S Ananthakrishna in making RV School of Architecture as one of the premier architecture schools in India. In 2015, the RV School of Architecture was upgraded as a full-fledged stand-alone College of architecture titled as RV College of Architecture affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. Dr. Bawane has been honoured with the distinction of being the First Principal of this prestigious Institute.Dr. Bawane has lectured extensively on invitation and has made his valuable contribution in functioning of the Boards of Studies/Examinations at many Schools spanning across the country. Dr. Bawane is an approved Ph.D. guide under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. He is part of the Doctoral Advisory Committee at Manipal University. Dr. Bawane has been associated with the Council of Architecture in different capacities viz.; Chairman & Member of Expert Committee; Member, NATA Reform Committee and Member, NATA Vigilance Committee.He has published and presented EIGHT research papers in National & International Journals / Conferences organised at Hyderabad(Sindh), Pakistan; Istanbul, Turkey ; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Colombo, Srilanka. In recognition of his contribution to Architecture Education Dr. Bawane was conferred with Teachers’ Day Award 1999, by Indian Institute of Architects, Karnataka Chapter.

Suresh Krishna Murthy – Professor & Dean

Prof. Suresh Murthy holds a B.Arch from M.S. Univ of Baroda and M.Tech from IIT Delhi in Building Science & Construction Management. He has been working as a Professor and Dean with RVCA for 9 years. He has an amalgamation of experience in both Academics and Industry with 15 yr combined working at Manipal Institute of Technology and RV college of Architecture and around 17 yrs for the I.T. Industry on GIS and Autodesk technologies in the utilities sector for planning  and maintenance functions in the Urban scenario. He is passionate about working in the areas of Building Science & Technology, Passive Architectural Design, Geographical information systems and Computer applications in Architecture.  He is also currently on the Boards of Studies of VTU and other universities.

B.Arch

Sreedhar K – Professor

Prof. Sreedhar K holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from JNT University, Hyderabad (1983) and specialized as a product designer by doing Master of Design, Graduate course from IIT, Bombay (1985). He is one of the senior faculty of this institute, teaching here since 2008. He has teaching experience of 33 years (since 1987), teaching architectural subjects in various institutions of Karnataka. His expertise is in teaching subjects such as Architectural Graphics, Freehand and presentation drawings, History of Indian and colonial architecture, Architectural and Design Model making techniques. He has conducted architectural study tours to the students and held workshops on architectural presentations and creative design skills. He was involved in many guest lectures as visiting faculty at other institutions. His interests are to study and document the Heritage Buildings, Hindu temples of Karnataka. He is presently working for a publication on Architectural graphics and digital presentations.

Anuradha Dinesha – Professor

Prof. Anuradha Dinesha received an undergraduate degree in Architecture – B.Arch. from U.V.C.E., Bengaluru and a postgraduate degree in Design – M.Des., Specialization in Product Design from IDC, IITB, Powai, Mumbai. Anuradha has been a recipient of gold medal at B. Arch level. She has been part of R V College of Architecture since September 2002. Prior to this, Anuradha was a faculty at Sristhi Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Yelahanka New Town, Bengaluru. Before joining the academic profession, Anuradha has had a vast and varied work experience in various capacities as a design architect and project architect and has worked in many marquee firms both in India and abroad in the areas of large campus planning and design, architectural design, construction management, interior design, furniture design and signage. Anuradha brings into teaching the diverse facets of experiences from both her architecture and product design background. Her research interests are in the areas of basic design and architectural design pedagogy, furniture and product design, construction materials and methods through the prism of sustainability.  She currently teaches courses on Basic Design, Architectural Design, Product Design and Working Drawing.

Prof. Arun Swaminathan 

Designation: Design Chair (Tenure)

Prof. Arun Swaminathan is a graduate from the School of Architecture, CEPT University, Ahmedabad and did his schooling from Bishop Cotton’s Boys School, Bangalore. He has a wide range of interests both Professionally and Extra- Curricular. Apart from a selective Architectural Practice, he is an Academician, Writer, Children’s Cartoonist and Illustrator. His passions include amongst other things Scale Model Aircraft, Military History, Literature, the Great Outdoors and many more exciting things. His Academic Career began with teaching School Children through NIE and a Voluntary Organization called “Each One Teach One”. This led to his teaching in Architecture and Design starting with RV College (which he continues to date as the Design Chair) to many other institutions. He is also currently on the Boards of Studies of a few institutions. His most memorable period has been a 3 year stint as a School Teacher at the Rishi Valley School, Krishnamurti Foundation India. His primary teaching interest continues to be the Foundation Programme for Architecture and Design. As for Architectural Practice, he has preferred to stay away from Commercial Projects and has been and continues to be involved with projects which have a personal / social/ environmental concern. His research interest has been in Light Weight Structures which apart from working on innovative projects, he conducts workshops to enthuse the young students across the country. He is also working on his own Educational Cartoon Projects.

Phani Pingali – Professor

Prof. Phani Ram Pingali, Professor of Architecture at RVCA, received a degree in B. Arch from J.N.T.U., Hyderabad (1986), M.S. Arch from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, USA (1989), PG Dip in Operations Management from AIMA, New Delhi (2007). He has over 30 years’ experience as Consultant Architect across USA, Middle East and India. His focus towards practice of architecture is from strong Client-Context-Cost nexus. He has about 18 years teaching experience. He was a Teaching Assistant at Louisiana State University, taught at Bangalore Institute of Technology and RVCE, Bangalore. Currently, he teaches Building Construction Technology at RVCA. His research interests are in the areas of real estate markets in India.

Amarnath M S – Associate Professor 

Dr. M S Amarnath has completed BFA (Painting) College of Fine Arts, (BU, 1990) and MFA (Painting) M.S.U, Baroda in 1992. He received his PhD in Jain University, Bangalore in 2014. He is working as Associate Professor in RVCA, Bangalore with an overall  teaching experience of 23 years. He teaches Basic Architectural Design, Visual arts, Model making, Product Design, Art in Architecture, Visual communication, art and craft, Architectural presentation skills. Recently he participated in International SAARC Artist Camp in Srilanka in 2018. He has also participated in the National Painters camp Organized By J&K Tourism Development Corporation at Jammu in 1988 & 2004; in the  Artist Camp organized by Karnataka State Lalitkala Academy, in Feb 2016 and the Group Art exhibition at Bharathiya Vidyabhavan, London in 2015. He is a recipient of Karnataka State Lalit Kala Academy Award in 1986, Karnataka State Shilpa Kala Academy Award in 2000, INLAKS Scholarship from London 1993 to work in India and Mysore Dasara Award 1987.

Mahalakshmi Karnad – Associate Professor 

Prof. Mahalakshmi Karnad graduated in Architecture from Bengaluru University and received her post graduate degree in Landscape Architecture from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. The foundations to her expertise in subject matters is built upon her work experience with several professional organisations in landscape architecture and teaching institutions before joining RVCA team in 2009. Since then, she is actively engaged in teaching, research and co-curricular assignments at the Institution. Her teaching assignments include II, III & IV year Architectural design studios and taught courses in Landscape Architecture and Ecological Architecture. She is currently pursuing Doctoral research at SPA, New Delhi.

Sridhar Murthy B P – Associate Professor 

Prof. B P Sridhara Murthy working as an Associate professor at RVCA, has completed Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering in the year 1980 and Masters of Engineering in Environmental Engineering in the year 1982 from Bangalore University. He started as a faculty in the department of civil engineering in R V College of Engineering and served there for 25 years. He also worked as a consultant for Team 2 Architects and Consulting engineers for 18 years. He was exposed to the area of Project management with Sycone Management Consultants for 1.5 years. He has been in the tolls of R V College of Architecture for the last 10 years. He is interested in Structural Engineering and Quantity Surveying subjects and has also handled various projects independently. He is presently associated in teaching structures oriented subjects, Quantity Surveying and Services.

Manjunath H R – Associate Professor & Associate Dean

Dr H R Manjunath is a Civil Engineer and a Structural Engineer with a Doctorate degree. He has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience in the engineering field. He worked in well established colleges like KVG College of Engineering, Sullia and M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore before joining R V College of Architecture in the year 2011. He has guided several undergraduate , post graduate students and presently guiding research scholars. Presently he is working as an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for VTU affairs. He has published several technical papers in national and international journals and conferences. He is actively involved in the board of studies/examinations of VTU and other autonomous institutions. As a researcher his field of interest is in concrete materials and related structures.

Bakul Jani – Associate Professor 

Prof. Bakul Jani, Associate professor, obtained his Diploma in Architecture in 1995 from CEPT University – School of Architecture. He has been the recipient of a fellowship from the American Institute of Indian Studies, Indian National Science Academy and Centre for Mutual learning. Apart from collaborating in practice with small firms, he has been a consultant to many large firms. He has been an adjunct faculty at CEPT in Architectural & Settlement Conservation 2009-2012. He has guided more than 110 undergraduate design and research dissertations. At RV College of Architecture, he teaches Architecture Design.

Bikramjit Chakraborty – Associate Professor 

Prof. Bikramjit Chakraborty, Associate Professor at R.V. College of Architecture holds a Masters in Architectural Conservation from SPA, New Delhi. He has also completed 2 years of doctoral coursework at CEPT University, Ahmedabad. He was involved in preparing the ‘Comprehensive Conservation Management Plan, Red Fort Delhi’, a project that enriched his project management and technical know-how for working on World Heritage Sites. Later, he worked for the Tourism Development Plan for Amritsar, Punjab, mapping cultural resources to identify projects for developing infrastructure and tourism facilities. From 2008 to 2010, he worked with the Aga Khan Foundation and was responsible for the conservation works of the World Heritage site of Humayun’s Tomb and adjacent areas, using 3D Laser Scanning Technology to document the site. Inclined towards academics, he was teaching at the Gateway College of Architecture and Design, Sonepat, Haryana. He is also an active member of ICOMOS and coordinator of National Scientific Committee – Heritage Documentation.

Girish Ramanathan – Associate Professor 

Prof. Girish Ramanathan is an alumnus of the University of Roorkee and graduated with a degree in Architecture in 1986 and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi in 1989. He has worked with UC Jain Architects in Bombay for a year. During his tenure there, one of the projects he was associated with was the prestigious Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Goregaon. After obtaining his Master’s degree, he came down to Bangalore and worked for a year in the regional office of CM Correa consultants. During the time, he was associated with the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology project at Hyderabad. He left CM Correa consultants and joined M/s Team 2, a leading architectural firm in Bangalore, and worked on a large variety of projects, and became one of the senior architects in the firm. He left Team 2 in 1995, started his own firm and has been practising architecture under his own banner to date. He has worked with large scale builders and developers, such as Tata Housing Development Corporation, DLF, Umang Developers, Skyline, Golden Gate, etc. His areas of interest are Residential Construction, Professional Practice, Appropriate Building Materials, Construction Technology and Statutory Regulations.

Dr. Salila Vanka –  Associate Professor

Dr. Salila Vanka holds a B.Arch. degree from VNIT Nagpur and two Masters degrees in planning studies from CEPT Ahmedabad and University of Texas, Austin (USA). She also earned her PhD degree in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (USA). She conducts architectural design studios, and teaches theory courses in architecture, urban sociology and urban design in the undergraduate and masters programs at RV College of Architecture, Bengaluru. Dr.Vanka’s work experience spans practice, teaching and research in urban design and planning in India and USA. Her research interests include urban public space, urban history and governance, and appropriate technology in the Global South. Dr.Vanka has been regularly organising workshops and conferences in RVCA, and represents the institution as invited speaker or moderator in academic forums in and outside Bangalore. She also actively presents and publishes her research in local and international forums, her most recent publication being a book chapter in the Routledge publication “Learning from Arnstein’s Ladder: From Citizen Participation to Public Engagement” (2020).

Girish B S – Assistant Professor 

Mr. B S Girish obtained his post graduation in structural engineering from R V College of Engineering, Bangalore in the year 2012 and B E in Civil Engineering from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore in the year 2009. He has about three years of teaching experience in colleges like KSSEM and YDIT. At present he is working as Assistant Professor and NSS Program officer in our institution since July 2015. He has guided Two B E and One M.Tech projects. One of the BE projects also got a grant from KSCST (Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology) and presented the project at state level competition. He has published three research papers in peer reviewed International Journals. He is very passionate about teaching. His other interests are sports, rafting, singing etc. He is also a practicing structural engineer. Currently he teaches subjects like Earthquake resistant structure Architectural Graphics and building structures.

Anupriya Saxena – Assistant Professor  

Ms. Anupriya Saxena earned her master’s degree in Building Engineering and Management from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and was a rank holder in her B. Arch degree from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi. Being inclined towards Sustainable/ environment responsive architecture, she had held the post of president for the Environmental Club at BIT and is an IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) Accredited Professional. With over 3 years of experience in the industry with an international construction company, she joined RVCA as an Assistant Professor in 2015 and has been teaching subjects related to Design, Construction, Building Services and Sustainable Architecture, which are her strong suits.

Pankaj Shivarama – Assistant Professor  

Mr. Pankaj Shivarama received his B.Arch. from VTU, Belagavi and master’s (M.A.) in Architectural Lighting Design, with honours from Hochschule Wismar, Germany. Having gained experiences in various award winning studios in India and Germany in architecture and lighting design, he has been an academic since 2015, teaching architectural, interior design studios and lighting design, for undergraduate students. As a practitioner, he works at the intersection of architecture, lighting design and art, having interventions for residential, work spaces, religious, culture and commercial spaces.His master’s thesis titled “Lighting in Early Childhood Environment” stresses on the qualitative aspects of lighting in architecture. His research interests include Lighting and Place-Identity, Environmental Psychology and Emotional Durability in Design.

Diya Banerjee – Assistant Professor  

Ms. Diya Banerjee has completed Bachelor of Architecture from Jadavpur University in 2010 and completed her Master of Architecture in Urban Design from School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi in 2012. Her research interest lies in people’s ‘right to the city’. In her Master’s thesis, she compared two major metropolitan cities, Calcutta and Delhi, through parameters like density, land use and the resultant urban form, access to public transport, attitude towards informal sector, urban governance etc. and their influence on the city’s economic inclusiveness. As a professional, she had worked in a few reputed firms, simultaneously teaching in Jadavpur University as a visiting faculty. As an Architect with a keen interest in history, she has been a volunteer for INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage), Kolkata for four years and has conducted several guided walks to generate awareness about the built and cultural heritage of the city. She joined RV College of Architecture in 2017. Apart from teaching, she loves to travel and read.

Nishant – Assistant Professor  

Mr. Nishant is a conservation architect. He completed his B. Arch. from SPA Delhi in 2012. He completed his M. Arch (Architectural Conservation) from SPA Delhi in 2015. He worked for the CPWD, New Delhi as a Deputy Architect on the execution of “Proposed extension to Parliament House Annexe building complex”. He has also contributed to the renovation works of the existing Parliament Library, Parliament House and the Old Parliament Annexe building. He worked as a trainee with Author cum Temple Architect Adam Hardy on Ashapuri group of temples site, Bhopal. He is interested in academic research and served as an Assistant Professor at McGans School of Architecture, Ooty. He taught Architectural Design, Building Construction & History of Architecture. He is interested in traditional & vernacular architecture and in developing architectural solutions through an understanding of indigenous knowledge systems. He has presented several research papers in national conferences on architecture. Other than this he has worked as a consultant for few residential and adaptive reuse projects. 

Shweta Pedaparthi – Assistant Professor  

Ms. Shweta Pedaparthi successfully completed her B.Arch from R.V College of Architecture, Bangalore. Upon graduating, she worked with Praveen Vashisht and Associates in Delhi. Following this, she joined RSP Design Consultants, Bangalore and during this time she worked on a myriad of projects. She has a penchant for teaching. While working as an assistant professor at R R School Of Architecture, Bangalore for two years, she taught undergraduate courses like architectural design, building construction and materials, theory of architecture and climatology. She joined R V College Of Architecture in 2017 and has been engaging with the students not only on the academic front but also with their cultural and alumni activities. She is a practicing architect, who takes a meticulous interest in uncovering pragmatic ways of space management.

Gowtham Nandakumar – Assistant Professor  

Mr. Gowtham Nandakumar holds a B.Arch from McGAN’s Ooty school of architecture. He received his IMIAD (International Masters of interior architectural design) with Majors in History theory Criticism from CEPT University, Ahmedabad along with an exchange semester from Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart. He has worked with Fulcrum Studio, Bangalore. He is associated with RVCA as an assistant professor and handles the interior design studio, Architectural design studio, Computer application, and history of architecture.. At present, he also runs his own practice, working on Architecture, Interior design, and graphic design (print publications).

Vidya V – Assistant Professor  

Ms. Vidya V completed her Bachelor’s degree from R V College of Architecture in 2013. Her thesis was presented in National Awards for Excellence in Architectural Thesis conducted by NIASA and the work was published in its yearly handbook ‘Archiving ‘13’. She has built her professional career as a practicing Architect for five years, working across architecture firms and corporate firms, cutting across sectors like residential, commercial, hospitality and interiors. As a design manager she has tremendous site exposure and expertise in handling large scale projects. She believes in equipping the students with practical exposure which will bridge the gap between academics and current industry practices.

Alisha Sinha – Assistant Professor  

Ms. Alisha Sinha completed her B.Arch from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra in the year 2014. She holds an M. Arch (by research) degree from Sir. J. J. College of Architecture, Mumbai. Her professional experience involves working with Dar al-Handasah, a global design consultancy, where she built competency in interior design and building services. Alisha has a strong inclination towards research and academic delivery in the fields of architectural graphics, climate-responsive design and architectural history. She has presented her research on Building Orientation in an International Conference and keeps publishing architectural literature at diverse platforms. She intends to implement innovative pedagogical strategies that would successfully encourage the application of knowledge to practice.

Shikha Verma – Assistant Professor  

Dr. Shikha Verma has done her doctoral in 2010 and Masters degree in 2005 from Motial Lal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad in the area of Solid Waste Management. Besides this she has a degree in Bachelors of Architecture from National Institute of Technology, Bhopal (1996). She has industrial as well as teaching experience of more than 20 years. She has participated and authored in more than 30 various international and national conferences and Journals. She is a life member of various bodies which includes Council of Architecture, Indian Geotechnical Society and Institute of Engineers India. Her areas of interests are Sustainable Architecture with Waste Management and Geoinformatics.

Mayank Singh – Assistant Professor  

Mr. Mayank is an architect with 1.5 years of Architectural practice and a Master’s Specialization in Structural Engineering with 3 years of Structural design practice under his belt. His main subjects are building construction, with an emphasis on computer technology applications and large-span and high-rise structures, and buildings with special geometry like shells and folded plates. He is also a part-time freelance structural design consultant involved in various national and international projects of small to medium scale. As a part-time musician/producer, he is also working to draw parallels with music and architecture for students to develop a cohesive understanding and commonalities of both the disciplines

Ramya K – Assistant Professor  

Ms. Ramya Krishna earned her undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore ( 2007-2021) and Master’s degree in Urban Design from University of Colorado, U.S.A (2016-2018). Her work experience spanning across 6 years includes residential, commercial, hospitality and interior design projects. She has also worked as an Urban Design research assistant (2017-2018) for Colorado Center for Community Development in the U.S.A. Her main interests includes active participation in sustainable building strategies, community development and energy efficient construction. Whenever opportunity arises, she actively takes part in animal welfare services.

Akanksha Singh – Assistant Professor  

Ms. Akanksha Singh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Priyadarshini Institute of Architecture and Design Studies, Nagpur (2017) and a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal (2020). She worked in an architectural firm ‘studio RAH’ in 2019. Her areas of research include healing and therapeutic landscapes, hospital landscapes, sacred landscapes and landscape and mythology. Apart from being registered under COA, she is also a member of ISOLA (Indian Society Of Landscape Architects).

Sameer Sharma – Assistant Professor  

Mr. Sameer Sharma holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from National Institute of Technology(N.I.T) Hamirpur – Himachal Pradesh Batch 2007-2012. His professional career spans 8 years which includes 2.5 years of field experience – where he worked under Architect B.V. Doshi. After this he worked as assistant professor at LPU – Lovely Professional University, Chandigarh University  and in SOA, IPS Academy Indore.  He strongly believes that the ability to balance design as well as practical aspects for any project is of utmost importance for any architect.

Pappu Harcharan – Assistant Professor  

Mr. Harcharan Pappu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (B.Arch) from School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada (2014) and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from University of Mysore (2017). He has  nearly 5 years of experience in both practice and academia with a keen interest towards research. He has published a research paper in an international Journal and also presented a technical paper at a National conference for which he was awarded a gold medal.

Ajinkya Kanitkar – Assistant Professor  

Mr. Ajinkya Kanitkar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur (2010-15) and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal (2018-20). His professional experience between the years 2015 and 2017 includes working on various projects such as Industrial, Hospitals, Commercial, Residential, Interior and Space Design. He has handled these projects from pre-design to execution and completion stages. He has also worked as a lecturer (2017-18) at the  department of Architecture NIT Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh as Lecturer. Between the year 2020-21, he has contributed to a performance assessment system project for 30+ ULBs in Maharashtra. 

Megala Gurumurthi – Assistant Professor

Ms. Megala Gurumurthi graduated with a Bachelors in Architecture from BMSCE, VTU, Bangalore. For over ten years, having associated with various design firms such as mayaPRAXIS, greySCALE design studio & Kham (Bangalore), that emphasize and propagate sustainable practices through their works, she carries forward similar values in her design approaches. Through the tenure and her current practice, she has worked on varied genres of projects ranging from residences, group housing, schools, co-working offices, hospitals, spiritual centres, public projects etc. Her endeavours are focussed to contribute to the larger canopy of Architecture’s influence through academia, active research, innovation and collaboration with professionals from related fields.

M.Arch (Urban Design)

Prasanna Rao – Professor & Associate Dean

Prof. Prasanna Rao, associate dean (PG studies) holds a B.Arch degree from MCE Hassan and a PG Diploma in Urban Design from CEPT, Ahmedabad. His initial academic interest was in the complexity of city stakeholders and aspects of governance in producing social spaces. As academic engagement progressed,his interest modified to Historiography as a key aspect in understating the city and its influence at city and regional context. This shift, he finds to be very enriching academically to set up a new direction for any future academic engagement. He feels that under the Urban Design program (M ARCH), academically there is a big scope of archiving the data that is produced and publishing the same will be one of his objectives along with continuous academic engagement.

U. Seema Maiya – Associate Professor 

Prof. Seema Maiya is an architect, urban designer and academician with research interests in the areas of architectural theory, design pedagogy, informality in Indian cities and historic urban precinct regeneration. She has worked on a diverse range and scale of urban regeneration and architecture projects, as a part of architecture and urban design practices in India and abroad. Since her association with RVCA in 2009, she has worked in various capacities and is actively engaged in teaching courses in architectural and urban theory and history, has conducted Design and Thesis Studios at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has given several guest lectures, been part of invited Jury Panels in colleges across India and is a part of the Design Consultancy Cell at RVCA. 

Hiranmayi S – Assistant Professor  

Ms. Hiranmayi Shankavaram is a graduate from BMS college of Engineering, Bangalore (2012). She also holds a master’s degree in Urban Management and Development at the Institute of housing and urban studies, Rotterdam (2015-16). She worked as an architect at a private architectural firm in Bangalore between 2012-2015. During her stint as an assistant professor (2017-2019) at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education (KAHE), Coimbatore, she has published two case studies titled “Living In Transition: An Exploratory Case On The Impacts Of Resettlement On The Livelihood Of The Dwellers Of CMC Colony and Explorations Into The Well-being And The Prevalent Environmental Impacts On The Health Of The Dwellersof Ukkadam CMC Colony” concentrating on the nuances of urban informality as part of a research programme called Building Inclusive Urban communities (BInUCom). She has been associated with RVCA since 2019. As a researcher and a responsible citizen, she identifies the endless gamut of urban issues, the panacea for which requires efficient, effective, and people-centric initiatives to create conducive environments.

Archana Vittal – Assistant Professor  

Ms. Archana Vittal, an architect-urban designer has completed her Masters from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. She has been a faculty member at RVCA for four years. Her academic interests are in urban studies, urban sociology and conservation. She has been teaching urban design, urban planning related theory and design studios that involve documentation and design resolution for various issues in cities. Apart from teaching full-time at RVCA, she also has architectural practice in Bangalore.
